You can find us at Gala No 5 in the Gupta Compound, right off Andheri East. We are directly opposite the Polaris Building, which is a big landmark that helps people find us among all the other workshops. This place is all about metal and machines. We have been in this gala for years. It is a bit dark inside, but we have good lights over the workbenches. We do various engineering jobs, mostly fabrication and fixing parts for bigger machines. It is noisy because there is always someone grinding or welding something. We wear our old clothes because everything gets stained with grease anyway. We don’t have a website or anything like that. Most people know us because they work nearby or someone told them we could fix a specific thing. We start early in the morning when the compound is still relatively quiet. By noon, it’s a lot of shouting over the noise of the tools. We take a break for lunch and sit on the stools outside. It is hard work and it can be exhausting when we have a big deadline. But we’ve been doing this long enough that we know the quirks of our machines. If something isn’t working, we pull it apart and see why. It is practical work for people who don't mind getting their hands dirty. We just keep doing what we do.
