Gypsy Leather is tucked away in the Champaklal Industrial Estate. We are at No.210 on Sion Koliwada Road, specifically in unit No.105 in Sion (E). The estate is a maze of small workshops and units. You can hear the sounds of sewing machines and hammers from almost every door you pass. Our unit isn't very big, but we make the most of the space. We have rolls of leather stacked in the corners and workbenches in the middle. It’s a bit cramped when we have a big order to get out, but we manage. There’s usually a radio playing in the background to keep things lively. We don't have a fancy showroom for customers. Most people who come here are looking for specific leather goods and they don't mind the clutter. We are more interested in the actual making of the products than in how the office looks. The walls are covered with patterns and notes we’ve scribbled over the years. It’s a hands-on kind of place. We get dust on our clothes and glue on our fingers, but that’s part of the trade. Sion is a busy part of town, and being in the industrial estate means we are surrounded by other people just trying to make a living. We aren't corporate people. We are just makers. If you find your way to No.105, you’ll see us working away, just like any other day.
