G.W.Khamkar Spices

Our shop is right on Dr. Ambedkar Road in Lalbaug, specifically at Plot No.D-43/45, Shop No 3. If you know the area, we are very close to the famous Chivda Gali. This part of Mumbai is always buzzing, especially during the festival seasons. G.W.Khamkar Spices has been part of this street's fabric for many years. The smell of roasted chilies and masala is something we wake up to every single day. The shop is small and can get very cramped when customers start lining up on the sidewalk. We have rows of jars and bags filled with different blends that we have been making the same way for a long time. It is a family thing, and we all have our roles, from weighing out the packets to talking to the regulars who have been coming here since they were kids. The traffic on Dr. Ambedkar Road is constant, and the noise of the buses is just background music to us now. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks; we just put out the spices and let the aroma do the talking. Sometimes the spice dust makes everyone sneeze, but we just laugh it off and keep working. It’s a busy, cramped, and noisy life in Lalbaug, but we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We usually stay open until the last customer is satisfied for the day.
