Goodluck Bags

Goodluck Bags is on the first floor of the Ashoka Centre, which is right near G T Hospital. If you know the Fort area, you know how crowded it gets around Ratan Pole and Waghan Pole. We are at 105, and getting up the stairs with a load of materials is always a bit of a workout. The building is old, and it has that specific smell of old paper and stone. We have our machines set up near the windows so we can see the street below. It’s interesting to watch the people going to the hospital or the markets while we work on the bags. Our space is crowded with rolls of canvas and piles of nylon. We don't have much room for anything else. We started Goodluck Bags because we needed a way to make a living and we knew how to sew. It’s not a fancy life, but we like the independence of it. We often eat our lunch right at the workbenches because there isn't really a break room. The noise from the Fort area never really stops, so we’ve learned to talk loudly over the traffic and the sirens. Most of the people who come to the Ashoka Centre are looking for something specific, and they usually find their way to our door eventually. We don't try to impress anyone with the way the shop looks. It’s a working space, and it looks exactly like one.
