Gokul Ice Creams

Being at Radhakrishna Char Rasta in Malad East means there is always something going on outside. The crossroad is always noisy with rickshaws and people rushing somewhere. Our shop, Gokul Ice Creams, is right in the middle of that. We’ve had this spot for some years now. It’s not a very large place, so it gets crowded quickly if more than five people come in at once. We spend most of our time organizing the tubs and making sure the labels are visible through the glass lids. Sometimes the lid sticks because of the ice buildup, which is annoying. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us working the shifts. We know the regular customers by face, even if we don't know their names. They usually get the same thing every time. On weekends, families come by after dinner. It gets a bit chaotic then. We just try to keep up. The street lights outside flickered for a week last month, but they finally fixed them. It makes the area feel a bit safer at night. We stay open until late because that’s when people want ice cream the most. We aren't doing anything fancy here. Just a simple shop with a freezer full of different flavors. We just keep the place clean and wait for the next person to walk through the door. It’s a decent way to spend the day. Nothing too complicated about it, just running the shop.
