Ghanshyam Dairy Products Company

My family has been here at Manek Chowk 48 for a long time. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when everything starts moving. Ghanshyam Dairy Products Company is tucked into Girgaon Dev Ni Sheri, right near Kashi Makan Khadki. If you know Mandvi Pole, you know how these streets get. It’s narrow and crowded but it’s home for us. We spend our days dealing with milk and whatever dairy items are needed. It’s not fancy work. We wake up early, way before the sun is really up, to get things ready for the people who stop by. The shop floor is usually a bit wet from cleaning and the smell of fresh curd is always around. Sometimes the traffic in the pole gets so bad that even a bicycle can't pass, but we manage. We aren’t looking to be the biggest place in Ahmedabad, just a steady one that people can find when they need their daily stuff. Most of our neighbors have known us for years. We talk about the weather or the price of things while we work. The building is old, with thick walls and some cracks, but it holds up. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the containers are full and the customers don't have to wait too long. It’s just regular life here, day in and day out, keeping the dairy moving through the streets. We keep the ledger on a small wooden desk that’s been there since my grandfather’s time.
