Gajara Bevel Gears Ltd. is situated at 403 A in the Byculla Service Industries on Dadaji Kondeo X Road. This building has been here for a long time and you can tell by the stairs and the old lift. We are up here making gears. It’s a greasy job, to be honest. Our hands are almost always black from the machines and the metal. Bevel gears take a lot of attention to get right, so we spend a lot of time hunched over the equipment. The shop floor is crowded with lathes and cutting tools. There isn't much space for a fancy office, so we just have a small desk tucked in the corner with piles of papers and old invoices. Byculla is a busy part of town and the noise from the street usually drifts up to us. We don't bother with fancy slogans or trying to look like a big corporate firm. We're just a bunch of guys who know how to cut metal. When the machines are all running at once, you can’t hear yourself think. We take our breaks by the window to get some air. It’s hard work and it’s often very hot, especially in the afternoons. We just focus on the orders we have for the week. We’ve been doing this long enough that we don’t need to talk ourselves up or pretend to be something we aren't.
