I spend my working hours at the R.C.F Colony in Chembur. The office is located in Building No A/7, specifically Room No 100 in the Type 1.A section. It is a fairly quiet neighborhood compared to the rest of Mumbai, which I appreciate. As the Front Office Assistant, my day mostly involves sitting at the desk and helping whoever comes by. Because we are situated right inside the colony, it feels very local and familiar. I spend a lot of my time answering the phone or sorting through the stacks of mail that arrive for the building. The setup is quite basic, just a desk, a chair, and my computer. Some days are very slow and I just keep things tidy, but other times it feels like everyone needs something at the exact same moment. Chembur has a lot of trees around the colony, so the view isn't just concrete and cars. I have been in this role for a while now, so I recognize most of the residents and workers who pass through. There isn't a fancy lobby or anything like that. It is just a practical room where I can get my tasks done and help people find what they need. I keep a logbook of visitors and make sure the files are in the right place. Sometimes the power cuts out or the internet acts up, and I just have to deal with it. It’s a simple job, but it keeps me busy.
