Our office is at 108 in the Bharat Industrial Estate, which is on L.B.S. Marg in Bhandup West. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know how crowded it can get with all the traffic on the Marg. Form Design (India) Pvt. Ltd. has its space here among many other small businesses and workshops. It’s a busy environment where there’s always something happening, whether it’s a delivery truck trying to squeeze into a tight spot or people rushing to catch a train nearby. Inside, we have our desks and drawing boards where we spend a lot of time looking at plans and trying to figure out how to make designs work in the real world. We aren’t a huge corporation with a glass building; we are just a group of people working in an industrial estate. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the tea guy knows exactly how we like our drinks in the afternoon. We focus on the daily tasks, making sure the measurements are right and the materials are what they need to be. Sometimes we stay late when a project is due, and the whole area gets quiet while we finish up. It’s a lot of work, but we’ve been doing it here in Bhandup for long enough that it feels like home. We just take it one day at a time. There is always another drawing to finish and another phone call to answer before we head home for dinner.
