Flowers By Design

Being out here at 1 B Supreme Shopping Centre near Aksa Beach is actually quite nice, even if the salt air isn't always great for the petals. Flowers By Design is a small shop, and we’ve been at this Juhu location for a while now. It’s funny because people coming back from the beach sometimes wander in with sand on their shoes, looking for a gift or just something to brighten up their room. I spend a lot of my time just trying to keep the shop cool so the stock doesn't wilt too fast. Juhu is always busy, but the Supreme Shopping Centre has its own little rhythm. I don't go for anything too fancy or complicated. I just take the flowers, clean them up, and put them together in a way that looks natural. My workspace is usually covered in bits of wire and wet leaves. It’s a messy job, but it’s honest. I’ve lived in this area most of my life, so I know a lot of the faces that pass by. We aren't trying to be the most expensive place in town. We just want to make sure there's a good selection for whoever stops in. Some days are slow and I just sit and watch the traffic, and other days I can't keep up with the trimming. It’s just how it is running a shop near the beach. The humidity can be tough on some of the more delicate blooms, but we manage. I spend a lot of time just changing water in the buckets to keep things alive. It’s a simple routine near the ocean.
