Fine Bag House

If you walk down Morland Road, you’ll find us at number 5. Fine Bag House has been in this same spot for years, and honestly, the sign outside has seen better days. Inside, there are bags everywhere—stacked on shelves, hanging from hooks, and sometimes just sitting on the floor in big plastic sacks. We do a lot of the stitching right here in the back. The sound of the sewing machines is basically the background music for our whole day. It’s a small shop, so you have to watch your step when you walk in. We deal with all sorts of materials, from the cheap stuff to the better leather that smells really strong when you first unroll it. My brother handles most of the customers while I stay in the back with the cutters. Sometimes the neighbors from the other shops come by for a chat, and we end up drinking tea instead of finishing the orders. It’s not a very organized place, but we know where everything is. If someone asks for a specific handle or a certain type of zipper, I can usually find it in a few minutes. The street outside is always noisy with carts and people, but once the shutters are down, it’s quiet enough to get the heavy work done. We just keep our heads down and keep the needles moving. It's a living and we're used to the noise.
