Famous Kulfi is located at Charni Road 15. It’s a small spot not far from the station. We have the big containers where the kulfi stays frozen in ice and salt. Charni Road is an old part of the city. You can feel the history in the buildings around us. Number 15 is a simple shopfront. We don't have much besides the kulfi molds and the sticks. The milk boils in large vats for a long time until it gets thick. It’s a slow process. We do it every day in the back. Charni Road gets a lot of people walking towards the sea or the train. We see a lot of different faces every evening. The shop is quite narrow, so we mostly serve people through the window or they stand on the edge of the pavement. The salt from the ice boxes sometimes gets on the floor and makes it a bit white. It's a bit of a struggle in the heat to keep everything frozen. We use old metal molds that have been with us for years. They are a bit dented but they still work perfectly. Charni Road 15 is just a local place. We don't try to be anything else. We just make the kulfi and wait for the evening rush. Sometimes the trains are delayed and we get a bigger crowd than usual. We just hand them their sticks and keep going until we run out of stock.
