Embe Eingineering Works

Down in Wadala at number 101, you will find Embe Eingineering Works. It’s a place that smells like oil and cold steel. We spend most of our time bent over workbenches or checking the alignment on a lathe. It isn't a clean job, our hands are usually stained with something that won't come off with just soap. We’ve been in this spot for a while now. The building is old and sometimes the roof leaks a little when it rains hard, but the machines stay dry. We do a lot of small jobs for people in the area and some bigger ones that take a few weeks to finish. There’s no big reception area or anyone to answer phones all day. If the phone rings, one of us just wipes their hands and picks it up. Most of the time we are just focused on the blueprints or whatever piece of metal is in front of us. Wadala is a busy place, and there’s always noise coming from the street, but we get used to it. We take our tea breaks together sitting on crates near the door. It’s a simple life, just making things and fixing what’s broken. We don't really do much else besides the engineering work. It’s what we know how to do. The shop stays open until the work is done for the day. Sometimes we stay late when a big order comes in.
