Our small space is right here in BDD Chawl, specifically Room 74. If you know Worli, you know how crowded and lively it gets near Jambori Maidan. We spend our days surrounded by the smell of turmeric and chili. It is a bit cramped in this building, but it works for what we do. We pack things up and keep the shelves moving. The area is always noisy with traffic on B W Road, but that is just part of being in this part of town. Neighbors stop by often just to see what is fresh. We don't have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It is just a room in a chawl where we handle our spices. Sorting through the bags takes up most of our time. You get used to the sneezing from the pepper after a while. Most people find us because they live nearby or they’ve heard about us from someone else in the building. It is a very local setup. We try to keep things organized despite the limited space. Sometimes the deliveries are a bit of a headache with the parking situation around here, but we manage. It is just a regular day-to-day operation. We focus on the product and getting it into the right packets. Nothing more to it than that. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans running and just keep working through the stock we have on hand. Handling spices manually means your hands always smell like cardamom or cloves, which isn't the worst thing ever.
