The Ansa Industrial Estate in Andheri East is always humming, and we’re right in the middle of it at F-123. It’s a bit of a maze back here if you don’t know your way around. Diemech Press Tools has been operating out of this spot for a good while. The floors are concrete and usually have some scuffs from moving heavy stuff around. We make press tools, which is basically a lot of heavy lifting and precision that makes your back ache by five o'clock. There’s a specific smell in the air—oil, cold metal, and maybe someone’s lunch from the canteen down the road. It’s not a glamorous job. We have stacks of blueprints that have seen better days, some with coffee rings on the edges. The guys on the shop floor have their own way of doing things. You’ll see them leaning over a bench, squinting at a piece of steel, making sure the edges are right. We don’t have a marketing department or a big sign out front that lights up at night. People usually find us because they need something specific made and someone told them we could do it. It gets loud when the presses are running, so we do a lot of nodding and pointing to communicate. It’s just how we work. We stay busy, we keep the machines oiled, and we try to get the orders out on time.
