Khushnuma Leather

Khushnuma Leather is located in the middle of Dharavi at R. No- B-8 in Shaheed Gopinath Colony No. 01. We are right on the 90 Ft Road, which is always packed with people and vehicles. If you know anything about Dharavi, you know it is the place for leather work in Mumbai. Our workshop is quite small and the walls are lined with different types of hides and scraps. It’s not a fancy place at all. The floor is usually covered in leather dust and the smell of the tanning process is always in the air. We spend our days cutting, stitching, and finishing leather goods. We have a couple of heavy machines that make a lot of noise, but that’s the sound of work being done. We don't have a big marketing team or a fancy office for guests. Most people who come to see us are looking for real leather work and they don't mind the narrow lanes or the crowded colony. We just focus on the craft itself and try to make sure each piece is solid. It gets really hot and cramped in the workshop, especially during the summer, but we are used to it by now. There’s always someone working on a bag or a belt, and we take our breaks whenever there is a spare moment. It’s a tough environment, but it’s where we do our best work. We just keep our heads down and get the orders finished.
