Hide N Skin

Hide N Skin is located in Shop No. 3 at the Rama Devi Hanuman Singh Chawl in Sion, Dharavi. It’s a small shop in a very busy part of the city. As soon as you walk in, you can smell the leather. We have skins stacked up and finished goods sitting on the shelves. It’s a tight space, but we make it work. Most of our day is spent at the workbench or talking to people who walk in off the street. Dharavi is famous for this kind of work, and we are just one small part of that tradition. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It's just a regular shop where we do our thing. The walls are lined with bags and belts, and sometimes there are pieces of leather spread out on the floor while we decide what to do with them. It gets quite noisy outside with the foot traffic and the scooters zooming by, but it’s a good spot to be. We’ve been in this chawl for a while and everyone knows where to find us. We don’t have a big website or a lot of employees, just a couple of us handling the daily tasks. It’s honest work and we like the feel of the leather in our hands every day. We usually stay late to finish up whatever we started in the morning.
