Tower Leather Arts

We have two spots for our business. One is the workshop in Dharavi and then we have the showroom over near the ONGC building. Tower Leather Arts is basically my life. I spend most of my time at B-29 in Nehru Nagar. It’s right off the 90 Feet Road. If you walk into that room, the first thing you are going to notice is the smell of the leather. It’s very strong. We do all the cutting and sewing right there. It’s a tight space, Room 106, but it works for us. We have a few guys who have been with us for years now. They know exactly how to handle the different hides. Then we take the finished stuff over to B-9 Priyandarshani in Sion West. That’s where the customers come to look at things properly. It’s a bit nicer over there, across from the Sion-Bandra Link Road. It’s still not a fancy boutique or anything, but it’s where we show the bags and belts we made. Dealing with leather is actually pretty tricky. You have to watch out for marks or bad patches on the skin. We don’t have some big corporate plan for the future. We just make what we can and hope people like the quality enough to buy it. Sometimes the machines act up or the leather shipment is late from the supplier. We just keep going regardless. It's a lot of work to get a single bag done right from start to finish.
