Alfa Chem Leather Company

Alfa Chem Leather Company is located at No. 12 in the Shafi Building. We are on the ground floor, which is good because we move a lot of heavy stuff. The building is on Dharavi Main Road, and we are very close to the Jama Masjid. If you've ever been to Dharavi, you know how busy it gets. There are people and vehicles everywhere at all hours. We sell chemicals and other things used in the leather tanning process. The shop is full of drums and bags, so there isn't much room for sitting around. It smells like a mix of different chemicals, which can be strong if you aren't used to it. We don't have a polished office or a fancy sign. It’s just a regular shop where people come to get what they need for their tanneries. We know most of the local workers and owners. We talk about the business and the weather while we weigh out the orders. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. We just want to make sure we have the right supplies in stock. When the mosque has its call to prayer, things slow down for a minute, and then it’s back to work. Sometimes we have to use flashlights if the bulbs in the back of the building go out unexpectedly during the busy hours. It’s honest work and we’ve been at this spot for many years.
