Deva Flowrist

Down on Post Office Road, near the Bank of India and the 10th Main in the 2nd Block of Andheri West, is where we set up every day. Deva Flowrist is a small setup, mostly just us and a lot of flowers. The location is good because people going to the post office or the bank often stop by. We don’t have a fancy storefront, just some basic shelves and a lot of plastic buckets. The 2nd Block is a busy area, so there’s always someone walking past. We spend hours every day stripping the leaves off the stems so they don't rot in the water. It’s a messy job, and our aprons are always damp. We don't really have a big plan or a corporate structure; we just try to get the fresh stock in before the heat gets too bad. The roses from the market can be tricky because the thorns are sharp and they always find a way to poke through the gloves. We use old newspapers to wrap some of the bigger bunches, which is just practical. Sometimes the birds from the trees nearby come in looking for scraps, which is a bit of a distraction. It’s a local business, run by people who live nearby and understand how the neighborhood moves. We keep the lights on until the last train of the night, just in case someone needs a bunch on their way home through Andheri West.
