Crane Engineering Works

The workshop for Crane Engineering Works is over in Goregaon East. Specifically, it's at number 3 in the Guru Gobind Singh Industrial Estate. It’s right across from the Western Express Highway, so it’s always loud with the traffic passing by at all hours. We work on cranes and big mechanical parts. It’s a lot of metalwork and fixing things that have worn out over time. Most of the time we are covered in oil or dust from the grinders. The estate is pretty packed with other small shops too. You can hear the sounds of machines from morning until late in the evening. We spend our days taking things apart and putting them back together. It’s not a clean job, but someone has to do it. The highway being so close makes it easy to find us, though the traffic can be a real headache when we are trying to get parts delivered. We’ve been here in Goregaon for quite some time now. We know the other shop owners around here pretty well. We share tools sometimes or help each other out if a job is too big for one shop. It’s a practical environment. No one wears suits here. We have our work clothes and that’s about it. Sometimes we have a backlog of parts sitting near the entrance. It gets crowded inside, but we just try to keep things moving so no one is waiting too long.
