Comfort Leathers

You can find us at R. No. B-7 in Social Nagar, right there on the 90 Feet Road in Dharavi. We are just across from the Sansar Hotel. It’s a tight spot, but we make it work. We’ve been working with leather here for as long as I can remember. The smell of tanned hides is something you just get used to after the first week. We make all sorts of things, mostly belts and bags and some smaller items. It’s a lot of manual labor, cutting the leather by hand and stitching it up. The shop is small and can get a bit messy with all the scraps on the floor. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. People just walk in from the street or call us up because they know we do decent work. Sometimes the rain makes it tricky to keep everything dry, but we have our ways. We just keep our heads down and get the orders out. My cousin helps me with the stitching most days. We drink a lot of tea while we work. It's a busy neighborhood, always something going on outside our door. We like being part of the community here. It’s not a fancy office, just a workspace where we try to make things that last. We’re usually here until late at night making sure everything is packed up and ready for the morning. It's a lot of repetitive work, but there is something nice about finishing a good piece of leather that someone will use for years.
