Cocoa Tree

Our spot is in the Marble Market at Malabar Hill. Cocoa Tree is tucked away on the 4th floor of the building, specifically in Room No 10. You have to take the stairs or use the old lift if it’s actually working that day. Sital is the name of the building people usually look for when they are trying to find us. It’s a bit quiet up here on the higher floors away from all the street noise. We have a few windows that look out over the rooftops of the neighborhood. The space is small and usually filled with bags of ingredients and various pieces of equipment. We spend a lot of time working at the long wooden table in the center of the room. The smell of chocolate usually hangs in the air and stays on our clothes even after we leave. It gets quite hot in the summer because we’re up on the top floor and the sun hits the roof all day. We have a small fridge that hums constantly in the corner. Most of our day is spent measuring things out on the scale and checking the temperature of the room. We don't get many walk-in customers because of where we are located, mostly just people who know exactly where to find us. The hallways in the building are a bit dim and often smell like the stone from the market downstairs. We keep the floors swept but the marble dust always seems to find its way up. It’s a quiet place to work. We just focus on what’s in front of us.
