Chekha Ice Cream

Chekha Ice Cream is based in Kandivali West, specifically at A-1/101 in Suraj Apartment within Charkop Village. It’s more of a home-style setup than a big commercial store. We have our freezers lined up against the wall in this unit. Living and working in Charkop Village is quiet compared to the main roads. We spend a lot of our time making sure the temperature stays exactly right. If it gets too soft, the quality isn't the same. We have a variety of cones and cups stacked up in the corner. Most of our customers are families living in the nearby blocks who want a treat after dinner. They usually just walk over in their slippers. We don't have a big staff, it's mostly just family members helping out. Sometimes the delivery bike breaks down and we have to fix it ourselves in the alley. We keep a notebook to write down what people want for their parties or small gatherings. It’s not a high-tech operation. We just use a basic calculator and a pen. The floor is tile and we mop it three times a day because of the footprints. In the evenings, you can hear the kids playing cricket in the lane outside. It's a nice sound while we are working. We have to be careful with the electricity bills because those freezers use a lot of power. My wife helps me with the accounts on the weekends. We just like being part of this building.
