Andheri West is a big place, and we’re just one small part of it. We’ve been here for a good while, mostly serving the people who live in the apartments nearby. It’s a different vibe than the city center. Things feel a bit more modern, but our work is still the same old thing. We get up early, wait for the delivery trucks, and start sorting. Some days the roses look great, and other days they’re a bit small, but that’s just how it is. We don't use any fancy filters on what we do. If you walk in, you’ll see us sitting on the floor or on low wooden crates, threading garlands or cleaning up the lilies. The shop usually has a pile of discarded stems in the corner that we clear out at the end of the shift. Customers come in with all sorts of requests. Some want a big bunch for a birthday, and others just want a single flower. We don't have a script or anything. We just talk to people and give them what they’re looking for. The humidity in Andheri can be tough on the blooms, so we’re constantly adjusting the fans and moving buckets into the shade. It’s a lot of small, repetitive tasks that fill up the day. We don’t think much about being the best or anything like that. We just want to make sure the flowers we sell are decent and that we can open up again tomorrow.
