Chamunda Travels

The office is tucked away in Malad at the Shivdham Complex. It’s a very long address to write out on an envelope, but mostly people just know us as the travel spot over in Shitole Nagar. We have a small desk and a couple of computers that are usually humming throughout the day. The walls have some old calendars and a few maps pinned up with tape. Most of the day is spent on the phone talking to different drivers or checking the bus schedules for people who call in. It gets a bit chaotic when everyone wants to travel at the same time during the festival holidays. We sit here in Yash Society and try to keep all the bookings straight so nobody gets left behind. Sometimes the printer jams when we are trying to give someone their physical ticket, or the phone won't stop ringing while we are already talking to a customer in the office. We don’t have a big fancy office with glass walls or modern furniture. It’s just a room where we get things done. Outside in the complex, there are kids playing and neighbors talking to each other. It feels very local and friendly. We’ve been in the Malad area for many years and know most of the people who live around here. If someone is confused about where to go, we try to explain the different routes. It’s not always easy, especially when traffic is bad and the buses are running late.
