Being in Lower Parel means we are surrounded by a lot of noise and tall buildings. Our place, Candy Industries Pvt. Ltd., is inside Vasan Udyog Bhawan on Senapati Bapat Marg. We are in unit 216. It’s an industrial building, so you’ll see a lot of people carrying things and trucks coming and going all day long. The stairs are concrete and a bit steep, so most of us just use the lift, even if it’s slow and smells like oil. Inside our unit, it’s mostly just work tables and machines. It’s not a showroom; it’s where things actually get made. We have been here for a good while, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change from old mills to these new glass towers. But inside 216, it’s still the same old routine. We have a small corner for our lunch, and the rest is just for the business. There’s always a hum of activity, and it can get a bit warm in the afternoons when the machines have been running for hours. We don't spend money on fancy rugs or painting the walls every year. We just make sure the equipment is working and the orders are going out on time. It’s a practical way to run things. We are just regular people doing a regular job in a busy part of Mumbai. That’s about it for us at this unit.
