Busy Travels

At Busy Travels, things are usually moving pretty fast, which I guess matches the name we have. Our office is Shop No 2 in the Dhamber Compound. If you are familiar with the area behind Dharavi, you’ve probably walked right past us at some point. We are sitting right opposite the big ONGC building, which is the easiest way to tell people where to find us. The compound stays quite active throughout the day. There is always someone moving goods or people heading to work. Being so close to a landmark like ONGC means there is a lot of traffic on the main road, but inside the shop, it’s just our usual routine. We’ve spent many years in this spot. I remember when the surroundings looked a bit different, but the vibe of this part of town hasn't changed much. It is gritty and honest. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights to show off. Most people find us because they live nearby or work in the offices across the street. We drink a lot of chai from the stall around the corner while we handle the daily tasks. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, making it a bit warm, but we’re used to it. It’s just a regular local business life here in the compound. We show up, do what needs doing, and head home when the sun goes down. It is a long day usually, but we are used to it.
