Bright General Stores

If you go to Shop No 8 in the Panchratna Building, that is where you will find Bright General Stores. We are on Saibaba Mandir Marg in Borivali West. This is a very lively part of Mumbai. There is a temple nearby, so on certain days, the street is packed with people. Our shop is quite packed too. We have things hanging from the ceiling and stacked in every corner. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. I usually stand behind the small counter. My day involves a lot of lifting heavy boxes and counting out change. We don’t use those fancy computer systems. I just write things down in a big ledger book when I need to remember something. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that right now. We sell basic things like batteries, pens, soaps, and plastic buckets. It is the kind of store where you can find that one random thing you forgot to buy at the big supermarket. The neighbors know us well. We hear the temple bells throughout the day, which is quite nice. It’s just a regular local shop. We open when the sun comes up and we don’t close until late at night when the streets finally get some peace. There is always work to do here but we like the routine of the shop.
