Bismillah Stores

If you walk down near Junen Wair Less Road in Andheri West, you will find Bismillah Stores. It is a lively part of Mumbai, always something going on right outside the front door. We have been here for years, watching the neighborhood change around us as new buildings go up and old ones get repaired. The shop is not huge, but we make the most of every inch of shelf space we have. It can get a bit cramped when we get a delivery and several customers all at once, but that is just part of the daily rhythm here. The humid air from the coast reaches us, and during the monsoon, we have to keep a close eye on the doorstep so the water stays out. People from the nearby apartments stop in all day long for their bits and pieces. We know most of the faces by now. It is a family thing, really, with different generations helping out when things get busy. We do not have fancy displays or air conditioning that works all the time, but the fans keep the air moving well enough for everyone. Working in Andheri West means you are never bored, that is for sure. We open early and stay open until the street lights have been on for a long time. It is just how Bismillah Stores has always been run, and we do not see any reason to change it now.
