Binas Homemade Ice Cream

We started Binas Homemade Ice Cream right here on Carmichael Road near the Kanakapura Main Road because we had some extra space and a love for sweets. It wasn't really a big business idea at first, just us messing around with a small machine in the back room. My sister and I used to try out different fruits we bought from the local market to see what tasted okay when frozen. Some of it was pretty bad but we figured it out eventually. Now we spend most of our mornings getting the milk delivered and making sure the sugar levels are right. The shop isn't much to look at, just a counter and some old freezers that we’ve had for years. People from around the neighborhood stop by after dinner usually. It gets real busy around eight in the evening. We don't have fancy uniforms or anything, just plain shirts and we do all the scooping ourselves. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to run the small generator to keep things from melting, which is a big headache. The floors get sticky by noon so we are always mopping. We just wanted to have a place where someone could get a decent cup of ice cream without it being too expensive. The traffic on the main road is always a mess but it brings people in. It is just a simple life here making things one batch at a time.
