Bharat Bag House

The shop is on the ground floor of Sakina Manzil in Byculla. It's a solid old building with thick walls. If you walk past, you'll see bags everywhere. We have backpacks, travel bags, and small pouches all over the shelves. My family has been doing this for a long time. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things pretty high. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific color, but we know where everything is kept. Byculla is a busy place, and there is always something going on outside the door. People stop by when they need a new bag for school or work. We see a lot of commuters who need something sturdy that won't fall apart on the train. I spend most of my day moving stock around or talking to people about zips and handles. Sometimes the rain gets heavy and we have to move the displays back a bit so they don't get wet. It’s just a regular local shop. We don’t do anything fancy with the lighting or the walls. It is mostly just about having enough bags for whoever walks in. I like the ground floor because it’s easy for people to just step inside. You’ll find us at number 12. Usually, there is some tea being shared and a lot of noise from the street. It feels like home to me after all these years working here. Every bag has a story of where it might go next. We just keep them ready for the day.
