Baskin Robbins

Down in Bandra West, right in the Hoodi Village area on the Main Road near Pamposh Restaurant, we have got this Baskin Robbins spot. It is a small shop, mostly just the freezer cases and a counter where we stand all day. Even though it is a big name, we run it like any other local shop on the block. The neighborhood is always busy, especially in the evenings when people are out for a walk after dinner. We spend a lot of time scooping and making sure the lids are closed tight so the ice cream stays hard. The freezer hums pretty loud, but you get used to it after a while. We have the usual flavors, plus whatever the monthly special is. Some days the delivery truck is late and we have to tell people we are out of their favorite, which is always a bit awkward. It gets sticky sometimes, especially when kids are around, so we are always reaching for the mop or a rag. There is not much room to sit inside, maybe just a couple of stools, so most people take their cones and walk toward the water. We see the same faces every week, mostly families from the nearby buildings. It is a straightforward job, keeping things cold and serving people something sweet before we head home for the night. We do not do much else besides that, and it seems to work out okay.
