Bags & Baggage

Our shop is at 323 Abdul Rehman Street. If you have ever been near Crawford Market, you know how crazy this street gets. There are people everywhere and handcarts pushing through the crowds. We are right in the thick of it at Bags & Baggage. The shop is full of suitcases, backpacks, and travel gear. We’ve been here for years, watching the market change. It is loud and dusty outside, but inside we just focus on the customers. Space is tight on Abdul Rehman Street, so we have to use every inch of the walls to hang our items. Sometimes it feels like the bags are closing in on us. We don't have much time for breaks because there is always someone walking in. The floor is old wood and it creaks when you walk. We don't bother with fancy displays. We just put the stuff out where people can see it. Dealing with the wholesale buyers and the regular shoppers keeps us on our toes. By the time evening rolls around, we are pretty tired. We grab a quick snack from the vendors outside. It’s a tough place to work but there is a lot of energy here. You meet all kinds of people in this part of town. We just try to get through the day. Sometimes the rain floods the street for an hour.
