Asiatic Stores

If you take the 90 Ft Road in Dharavi, you will find us at A/4 316/317. We are on the Sion West side of the road. It is a very lively place to be. There is always noise, music, and people yelling in the street. Asiatic Stores has been around for quite a bit. We sell all sorts of daily items that the people in Dharavi need. The shop is narrow but deep. We have things stacked all the way to the top. I have to use a ladder almost every hour to reach something for a customer. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. We know most of the people who live in the nearby lanes. They stop by for their morning supplies or a quick chat on their way to the station. The 90 Ft Road is always packed with traffic, so we see a lot of commuters too. Sometimes the dust from the road gets onto the jars, so we are always wiping things down with a rag. We don't have any air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that buzz. It gets sweaty in the summer, but we are used to it by now. We just do our business and go home at night. No big fuss about anything. We just keep the doors open and the lights on.
