Ascent Media

Mumbai is a tight squeeze and our place at Shree Sainath CHS in Gorai-II is no different. We operate out of Plot No. 238, specifically in the C-8 section. Borivali West is a lively part of the city, so there is always noise from the street coming through the windows, mostly horns and people shouting. We’ve been doing media work here for a while now. The office isn't much to look at, just a few desks and a lot of hard drives scattered around. We spend a lot of time sitting in front of screens until our eyes get tired. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there talking in the dark until it comes back on. It’s a small team, so everyone does a bit of everything. We don't have fancy titles or any of that corporate hierarchy stuff. If the floor needs sweeping or the trash needs taking out, one of us just does it. We get our lunch from the food stalls nearby and eat at our desks while we work through edits or planning. Being in a housing society means we have to be a bit quiet in the evenings so we don’t bother the neighbors. It’s a very local way to run a media business. We aren't over in the big fancy towers in South Mumbai, and we prefer it that way. It keeps things grounded. We just handle the media stuff as it comes in and try to stay ahead.
