Arshan Bags

Arshan Bags is situated at No. 48 in the Hirje Gonje Compound on Sophia Zuber Road. We are right in the middle of Nagpada. It is one of those old industrial compounds where a lot of small businesses operate side by side. Our space is mostly taken up by rolls of fabric and finished bags waiting to be picked up. I’ve been in the bag business for a long time now. It’s hard work, mostly lifting heavy bundles and making sure the zippers and handles are put on right. The compound can get a bit congested with deliveries coming and going, so it is always a bit chaotic. I usually have a few people helping me out with the sewing and packing. We don't have any big signs or advertisements. People mostly know we are here by word of mouth or they just find us in the compound. Nagpada is a busy area, and the heat in the afternoon can be quite something inside the shop. I spend my days checking the stock and talking to people who want bulk orders. It is a straightforward business. We make the bags, we sell them, and we start over the next day. Sometimes the machines break down and that's a whole different headache to deal with. But we manage to keep things moving. It’s just how life goes in this part of town.
