Our place is tucked away in the Gamdevi Ambica Temple Trust Compound, which is right on Kirol Road in Vidyavihar West. If you are coming down the road, we are basically opposite the Thakur Industrial Estate. It’s a bit of a crowded area with all the different workshops and businesses crammed into the same stretch. We spend most of our time inside the unit dealing with machines and metal parts. The temple trust compound has a certain rhythm to it, especially in the mornings when people are coming and going. You can hear the sounds of the engineering work from the street—drilling, hammering, and the hum of the motors. It’s not the quietest spot in Mumbai, but it’s where we have been set up for a good long time. Sometimes the trucks blocking the entrance to the compound can be a bit of a headache, but that is just part of being in this location. We don’t have a big reception area or flashy signs. Mostly, it is just us in our work clothes making sure the engineering tasks are finished properly. Usually, there’s a lot of grease and metal shavings on the floor by the end of the day. We try to keep things organized, but in a small engineering shop like this, stuff tends to pile up on the benches. It’s a plain, honest workspace where we just focus on the daily grind.
