Our office is up on the 7th floor of Orchid Tower in Lokhandwala Township. Being in this part of Mumbai means there is always something going on outside. Anil Salian & Associates has been operating from here for quite some time. We are mostly focused on the consulting side of architecture, so our days involve a lot of looking at regulations and technical drawings. Desks are usually covered in rolls of paper and half-empty coffee mugs. It’s not a quiet place because someone is always talking on the phone or a printer is running in the background. We have a small team here, and everyone knows each other’s habits by now. Working in Lokhandwala is convenient, though finding parking is always a headache for anyone visiting us. Those big corporate vibes you see in some downtown offices aren't for us. It's more about getting the measurements right and making sure the structural bits are sound. A lot of time is spent on site visits too, checking if the builders are following the plans we made. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Staying late happens when a deadline is coming up, but that’s just how this business goes. We like the neighborhood and the people we deal with every day. The tower feels like a real community to us.
