Priti Leathers

Our shop is located at Kwg/351 on Cama Road, right in the Gaandevi Dangri area. Since we are so close to Andheri Station, there is never a quiet moment. You can hear the trains and the thousands of people moving back and forth all day long. The smell of leather is the first thing you notice when you step inside. It is a strong, earthy scent that sticks to your clothes by the end of the shift. We have bags, belts, and scraps of material piled up on the workbenches. The space is a bit narrow, so we have to be careful when we move around so we don't knock anything over. We spend most of the day cutting, stitching, or just organizing the inventory. The tools we use are old but they still work fine. Sometimes the hum of the sewing machine is the only thing you can hear over the street noise. We get a lot of people who are just passing through on their way to the station. They stop in for a minute to look at a wallet or ask for a quick repair. It is a practical place. We don't have air conditioning, so the big ceiling fan runs constantly. We keep the door open to let in some air, even if it means a bit of dust comes in with it. It’s just how it is working in this part of town near the tracks.
