Anam Luggage

Anam Luggage is located at 9 Dambhur Compound, which is right opposite the ONGC shop. We are at Shop No 1 near Hanuman Chowk in Dharavi. It is a very crowded place, but there is a lot of energy here. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day long—people talking, scooters zooming past, and the work happening in the other shops. Our shop is small but we pack it full of luggage. We make some of the bags ourselves right here. You can hear the sewing machines whirring away in the back sometimes. It gets a bit dusty with all the fabric and the materials we use. We use Hanuman Chowk as a landmark when people are trying to find us for the first time. We've got all sorts of bags, mostly the sturdy kind that can handle being tossed around. The walls are covered in hooks where we hang the backpacks. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, with scraps of leather or nylon on the floor, but we know where everything is. We have been here in Dharavi for a long time and we know our neighbors well. We sit outside on small stools when the weather is nice and watch the people go by. It’s not a fancy life but it’s our life and we enjoy the work we do. There is always someone stopping by to say hello or ask for a quick fix.
