Amale Flower Stall

We run the small flower stall near the bus stop in Dadar West. Our spot is numbered 41293, though most people just recognize us by the piles of marigolds and roses sitting out. It’s a very public spot, so we see a lot of people every single day. People rushing to catch a bus often stop for a second to grab something. It’s a noisy part of town, with the traffic and the crowds, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We start very early, often before the sun is even up, to get the best stock from the main markets. The stall isn't big, so we have to be organized with how we stack the buckets and the baskets. It’s mostly just us standing there, helping whoever comes by. We don’t have a website or a big office. It’s just a stall. We deal with whatever the weather gives us, whether it’s the heat or the rain during the monsoon. We’ve been here long enough that we know the bus schedules by heart. The work is physical and our hands are usually stained from the stems or the string we use for garlands. It’s honest work, and we like being in Dadar. There is always something happening. We just provide flowers to the folks who need them for their homes or for prayers.
