Alka Tours & Travels

If you know Malad, you know how crowded Mustafa Bazar can get. That is where Alka Tours & Travels is located, right opposite the old New Era Theatre. It is a spot that everyone recognizes, so people find us easily. Most of our day is spent on the phone or sitting at the computer looking at bus timings and flight rates. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of checking and re-checking dates to make sure nobody gets stuck at an airport or a station. Sometimes the internet gets slow and we have to wait, which can be frustrating when a customer is sitting right there. We handle a lot of local travel and some longer trips too. Being in this part of Malad means we see a lot of the same faces every day. It’s nice when someone comes back from a trip and tells us it went fine. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us here trying to keep the bookings straight. The office isn't very large, it’s mostly filled with folders and old registers. We keep things simple because that’s what works for us. Usually, someone is always popping in to ask about train tickets or just to check if we can arrange a car for a weekend. We just keep doing our bit here in the bazaar, helping people get from one place to another without too much trouble or confusion.
