Al Nur Masala

We are located at Shop No.1 in the Lucky Building. It’s on Dr Maheshwari Road, right in the Dongri and Umerkhadi area. This part of the city is always packed, and our shop is no different. We spend the whole day grinding and mixing different masalas. You can usually smell us before you see us. The air is thick with the scent of chilies and turmeric. It’s a small shop, so we don’t have much room to move around once the sacks of raw spices arrive. We have a couple of old grinders that make a lot of noise. People from the neighborhood stop by to get what they need for their kitchens. We don’t do much advertising; people just know we are here in the Lucky Building. Dongri is a busy place, and the streets are narrow, so getting deliveries in and out can be a real headache. We have to time it just right. The shop has been here for years, and the walls are stained with the colors of the spices we work with. It’s a bit messy, and there’s always dust on the counter, but that’s what happens when you work with masala all day. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s a simple life, and we like being part of the local market scene here. There is always a lot of shouting and horns honking outside, but we are used to it.
