You can find Ajanta Florist on the ground floor near the ICICI Bank in Andheri West. Being near a bank means there are always people coming and going, so it never really feels lonely here. Andheri is a fast place. Everyone seems to be in a hurry to get somewhere else. We’ve been in this ground floor spot for a while now. The space is filled with the various things we need for the day, mostly scissors, twine, and buckets of water. It’s not the biggest shop, but it serves its purpose. We spend a lot of our time standing up, moving things around, and making sure the floor isn't too slippery. The staff here are just regular people who know a bit about the business. We don't wear uniforms or anything like that. We just wear what is comfortable for a long day of work. Often, the smell of the shop is the first thing people notice when they walk in. It’s a mix of wet earth and whatever is in bloom. We don't have a complicated system for how we work. We just take things as they come. If a customer walks in, we help them. If the phone rings, we answer it. It’s a simple way to spend the day. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, but we just keep doing our thing. It keeps us busy and we don't really have any complaints about how things are going for us.
