You can find us over by Crawford Market on Ghorupdeo Road. It is always crowded around here, so there is never a quiet moment. We spend most of our time on the phone or looking at train and bus schedules on the computer. People come in looking to go see their families or maybe take a trip somewhere they haven't been. We write down names and dates and try to find seats that aren't too expensive. It’s a lot of paperwork and checking things twice because nobody wants to get stuck at a station with the wrong ticket. The office is small and usually has a few bags or boxes sitting in the corner. We get all types of people walking in from the market area. Sometimes they just want to know how much a taxi to the airport costs or if there’s a bus leaving tonight. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know how the routes work. There is a tea stall nearby so there’s usually a cup of chai on the desk while we work. It’s not a glamorous job, but it helps people get where they need to go. We’ve been handling bookings for a long time now and we know which roads are bad and which trains are always late. We just tell people the truth about the travel times and let them decide.
