Aaswad Ice Cream Parlour

You can find Aaswad Ice Cream Parlour over at Charkop 29. It’s a small shop, mostly filled with the big chest freezers that hum all day and night. Running an ice cream place in a place like this means you are always worried about the power staying on. I spend a lot of time checking the thermometers to make sure everything is staying frozen. The shop at number 29 has been here for a few years, and the neighborhood kids usually come by after school. It gets pretty sticky on the floors, no matter how many times we mop them during the day. We don't have a big team of workers; it’s usually just me or one of the family members standing behind the counter. We don’t have any fancy seating, just a couple of benches outside that we painted ourselves last summer. The paint is already starting to peel a bit from the sun. Charkop is a busy residential area, so we see a lot of the same people every week. Sometimes we run out of the popular flavors before the new delivery arrives, and we have to tell people we're sorry. We keep the napkins and plastic spoons in these plastic containers that are always getting knocked over. It’s just a simple shop, nothing too complicated. We just keep the freezers running and wait for the next person to walk through the door. It gets busy on weekends, especially when it is hot outside.
