Aasamant Trekkers

Our group, Aasamant Trekkers, is based out of Kanjurmarg East. We are located near Wadegati Vaibhav in the Datar Colony area of Bhandup East. This isn't really a traditional shop where you can walk in and buy things. It is more like a home base where we store our heavy trekking bags, some climbing ropes, and a lot of old maps. A few of us started this because we really enjoy being outdoors and exploring the different hills around Maharashtra. We spend a lot of our evenings sitting around a big table here, trying to plan out where we should go next. The room is usually a bit of a mess with hiking boots that need to be cleaned or tents that are waiting to be folded up properly. We are not a big travel agency with glossy brochures or anything like that. We just know the local trails well and like taking other people along with us. Most of the time we are just sitting here talking about the weather or checking the train schedules to see how to get to the base villages. Kanjurmarg is a very busy and crowded spot, but our little corner is relatively quiet. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of friends who take turns answering the phone. Sometimes we meet up very late at night to pack everything into a jeep. It is a bit unorganized at times, but we always manage.
