Aakanksha Creations

We are based at Aakanksha Creations right at the busy junction of Worli Naka. If you have ever been to Worli, you know how crowded it gets with the buses and taxis everywhere. Our space is tucked in among all that noise. I spend my time surrounded by rolls of fabric and different materials. There is usually a sewing machine humming in the corner and scraps of thread all over the floor. I try to sweep it up every evening, but by the next morning, the mess is back again. People come in with ideas for things they want made, and we try to figure out how to do it with what we have. It’s not a big showroom with lights and mirrors; it’s more of a workshop where the real work happens. The air is often heavy with the smell of new cloth and sometimes the steam from the iron. I get a lot of people walking in just because they were passing by the Naka and saw our door open. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us working through the orders. Sometimes we stay late when there is a lot to finish, watching the lights of the cars outside on the main road. It can be tiring, but it’s good to see something finished at the end of the day. It’s just a regular local business trying to get things right for the people in the neighborhood.
