A V Mehta & Co is located at 110 in Girgaon, right in the heart of Zaveri Bazar. If you know this area, you know how crowded and busy it gets with all the gold shops and the narrow lanes. Our office is an old-fashioned space with heavy desks and metal filing cabinets that are packed with folders. We have been here for a long time, watching the market change outside our windows. The noise from the street never really stops, with people shouting and carts moving back and forth all day long. Inside, we mostly deal with numbers and ledgers and a lot of paperwork that needs to be filed and stamped. It is a bit dusty because of all the old papers, but we know where everything is. We do not have any modern glass partitions or bright neon signs. It is just a plain room where we do our work and meet with the local traders from the bazar. We usually have a fan spinning overhead to keep the air moving, and we drink a lot of tea to stay focused. People come to us because we have been part of the Girgaon community for so many years. We just keep our heads down and focus on the tasks at hand, making sure the records are correct and the accounts are balanced properly. There is always a lot to do, especially when the tax season comes around and everyone is in a hurry.
